Roxio Versions

bullet

Version 9 Dislikes - every time I try to do something with this version I find something I don't like so I decided to place a reminder to my self at this web site.  Now I'm leery about any new versions so I haven't tried v10.
bullet

Create Audio CDs - about 0.5 seconds is cut off of the last song on the list.

bullet

Ripping mp3s from a CD - You no longer have the option of: <artist> - <song title>

bullet

Label Creator - you can't copy and paste a text box.  Maybe this is if you open up an older version (.jwl).

bullet

.jwl files - these files were created by version 7.  You can open the files, make changes to them, think you saved the changes and when you load the file backup your changes are not there - wasted time!!!

bullet

MyDVD (version 9) part of Roxio's Easy Media Creator v9
bullet

After installing EMCv9 I get the following error when I use Windows Media Player (WMP) (v10.00.00.4036 or v11.0.5721.5145) to try and play the DVD.  This occurs with any DVD (purchased or created).  I used to play DVDs fine (even ones created with EMCv7) w/WMP.  My work around is to play DVDs with Roxio's, My Media, Media Experience to play the DVDs with no problems.

Error:  Windows Media Player cannot display subtitles or highlights in DVD menus. Reinstall the DVD encoder or contact the DVD drive manufacturer to obtain an updated decoder.

bullet

MyDVD v9 - I get this error, consistently during the Menu encoding step, when burning some large DVD projects.  Sometimes MyDVD will be "not responding" in the Task Manager (application is hung) or sometimes eventually you may get this error if you wait long enough.

Error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Roxio\VideoUI9\VideoWave9.exe
R6025 - pure virtual function call.
